Joseph Hunter Robbins Has Arrived!!!

I'm gonna make this short and sweet since I have limited time. Yesterday, April 26th, Joseph Hunter Robbins was born. We went in the morning to go to a sonogram "check up" to make sure the amniotic fluid levels were OK. Of course we were planning to right back home after the appointment, but unexpectedly they wanted us to stay and induce that day due to the decreased fluid level. Well, we'll fill you in on the details later, but she ended up having a C-section and Joe came into the world at 22:22. Carla was such a trooper throughout the whole thing. She is doing well and Joe is a very healthy boy and sleeping on his momma as we speak. His weight was 7 pounds 13 ounces and he was 20.5 inches long. See the attached pictures. I will update this when I have more time.

Sorry Folks, STILL No Joe!

Today I am officially 41 weeks pregnant and counting. We had a sonogram appt. yesterday and it showed that the amniotic fluid levels, cord flow, heartbeat and baby growth are all still really good. He gave me the go ahead to continue with the pregnancy a little longer. Afterwards, I had an appt. with the OB and that was less exciting. I am only 2.5 cm dilated from 1.5 last week and still 70% effaced. I have another sonogram scheduled for Thursday the 26th to be extra safe and make sure everything is still okay. If all is good at that point and I still have not had the baby, then my OB made me schedule an induction for Monday the 30th (which is my brother Brandon's Birthday) at which point I will be 42 weeks! Crazy! I NEVER expected to be pregnant this long but I also vowed this time I would do nothing to alter the length of my pregnancy. I was determined (and still am) to let this one come when he is ready. I just wish it would be soon. Can you tell patience is not one of my virtues? Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers and we'll let you all know as soon as something happens. Thanks for all your friendhip, love and support. Carla

Still No Joe!

Well, I had my 40 week OB checkup today - it WAS the due date. I have made NO progress since last week. In fact, apparently I've regressed if that's at all possible. The doctor I saw last week told me I was dilated to 2cm and this week my doctor told me that actually I was more like 1.5 cm! Wrong way! I'm so frustrated and really did not expect to go this long the second time around, especially with my level of activity. Apparently, my babies like to just stay in there indefinitely. She knows I do not want to induce so she scheduled me for a sonogram next Monday the 23rd. If I still have not had him by Monday and he looks okay, then she'll let me go up to one more week which would be the 30th, then induce. If it looks like he's no longer thriving then she will induce next Monday the 23rd after the sonogram. We are hoping and praying that Joe decides to come out on his own and greet the world before Monday. We are so anxious to meet him and start our life with him in it. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we are waiting on pins and needles over here. Carla Yeah, we both are getting pretty frustrated, but I especially feel for Carla. After lugging a little one around for 9 months and still not sure when he is coming out, that takes its toll. I keep telling her that our babies don't want to come out because they are liking it so much in there. She treats herself and our babies so well during pregnancy, they see no reason to leave. I had a feeling Joe was going to be late too because Jack was a couple days late (we ended up inducing). Also, each day I leave work, I try to prepare that I will be gone for the next 2 weeks. I send all these e-mails out with updates so everyone can cover for me. Every morning they are surprised to see me. It does give me an excuse to keep organized. Well I gotta go watch the Rangers put a whoopin on the White Sox. Brent

No Easter Bunny This Year

Sorry we're so behind. Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! Sadly, this is the only picture we have from Easter. Jack was sick the whole weekend - nothing in particular but pretty much slept 24/7 for an entire weekend. He did get wonderful packages from both of his loving grandparents but no egg hunt or candy or Easter Bunny. On Saturday we took him to a friend's house for an Easter Egg Hunt and festivities like bounce houses, wagon rides and a petting zoo. It was FREEZING!!!! Although under the weather, of course he loved the animals and went into the petting zoo twice. He kept pointing at all the animals and looking at us like "do you see that?" We had him grab a whole 4 eggs on our way out so he could at least look at them later. Then Brent and I ate the candy out of them on the way home while Jack slept. Horrible, I know! On Sunday we dragged him to our Sunday School class for a grand total of about 20 minutes for a breakfast. He was miserable so we left. He actually had a very low temperature and was kind of lethargic. He also had no appetite which for Jack is absolutely unheard of. We later took him to the doctor and they couldn't find anything wrong with him. So, we just let him keep sleeping and then magically on Monday he was fine! Monday was a crazy day! For those who haven't heard, someone tried to break into our home on Friday morning while I was home. I won't go into detail on this site but it was absloutely surreal and the most frightening thing that has ever happened to me. Thank goodness Jack was at school that day instead of still home sick. I had an OB checkup yesterday (Thursday) and I am now dilated to 2cm's. Yippee! That's when I got my epidural with Jack. :) I feel fine and it doesn't feel like anything is going to happen but you never know. Our bags are packed, we have Jack babysitters lined up (i.e. my Mom, Vaughan and Omar), backup plans and we are ready as we'll ever be. Me especially. I actually did have some pretty regular contractions the other night and Brent got out his stopwatch, a pen and paper and his birthing book and kept track of it all. We really thought that was the moment and it was kind of fun and exciting but then they just stopped as abruptly as they started. Oh well. We are hoping for this weekend. If he hasn't come by Sunday, we are playing hookie from church and going for pancakes. If anyone from church is reading this, sorry. I've had a pancake craving the entire pregnancy but haven't given in until now. I hope I get them! I'm still keeping all of Jack's therapy appointments and I'm still driving all over creation. There is a hospital right by his therapy place so I told his therapists to drive me over there if anything happens. It's almost harder at home because I am the only one to run around and entertain Jack and I just don't feel up to that right now. I'm HUGE! Driving to therapy and staying busy is much easier. Jack is taking a nap so I'm signing off to try and catch some shuteye myself. We'll be back with more news hopefully very soon. Stay tuned. Carla
